Mediation Training

At Rome Mediation Group we understand that there is great power in the knowledge and understanding of conflict resolution. With that in mind, we have created training sessions that can provide you with the tools needed to facilitate productive outcomes in both civil and probate mediation. Our programs are approved by the state of Georgia for CLE credits. See below for details on our 2025 training sessions. If you are hoping to support conflict resolution in your business, let us design a condensed training event specific to your workplace needs.

Civil Mediation: 4-Day Training & Practicum

Rome Mediation Group offers a 4-Day (8hr/day) Course designed for lawyers, non-lawyers, and anyone interested in learning how to facilitate optimal solutions between disputing parties. Through role play, videos, case study, and highly interactive classroom teaching - participants learn the skills, fundamentals, rules, and psychology behind mediation. The 1.5-Day (virtual) Practicum consists of at least 5 2-hour civil mediation videos. Both classroom training and practicum have been approved by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. Successful completion of both components satisfies the requirements to become a registered Civil Mediator in Georgia.

These courses are offered two to three times per year in historic Rome, GA on the campus of Berry College. We also offer condensed training classes to optimize mediation skills and conflict resolution among associates in a business setting.

Probate Mediation: 2-Day Training & Practicum

Rome Mediation Group (RMG) offers a 2-Day (8 hr/day) course, approved by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution (GODR). Completion allows GODR registration in the Probate Mediator category. This will be REQUIRED for court-referred Probate mediations as of July 1, 2025. Through content instruction, videos, role-play scenarios, and highly interactive learning, participants will develop the skills, fundamental knowledge, rules and relational skills involved in helping resolve these often emotionally charged disputes. A minimum of 15 registered participants will be required for the class to go forward. Once RMG receives 20 registrants, you will be notified of waitlist status and added as cancellations occur.

These courses are offered in historic Rome, GA on the campus of Berry College.

The course has been approved by the Georgia State Bar for 16 hours of CLE, including 2 hours of Trial and 1 hour of ethics.

You must be registered as a Civil Mediator with GODR to be eligible to complete this class.

A NOTE FROM THE GEORGIA OFFICE OF DISPUTE RESOLUTION

The Training Course and Practicum for Probate and Civil Mediation have been approved by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution and meet the training and observation requirements for registration as a neutral. It should be noted that the fact that a training program has been approved by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution does not imply that any particular court annexed or court referred program must, or will, accept as neutrals those who have completed that program. Each local court program is expected to exercise its discretion with reference to the qualifications of each neutral and may inquire into the training received by such neutral. Completion of a state-approved program does not automatically qualify one as a neutral in any local program.
